PROCEDURE TEXT I

 "CHAPTER 3 PART 1 ABOUT PROCEDURE TEXT"


Do practice 1-10 in part 1.


PRACTICE 1: Name the following tools. Then, match the description (function) of each.


Pict. 1 : Blender (c)An electric mixing machine used in food preparationlequefying, chooping, and pureeing ingredients.
Pict. 2 : Laptop (e) A computer that is portable and suitable for use while traveling.
Pict. 3 : Rice Cooker (b) An automated kitchen appliance designed to boil or steam rice.
Pict. 4 : Printer (d) A device that accepts text and graphic output rom a computer and transform information to paper.
Pict. 5 : Toaster (a) An electrical device for making toast.


PRACTICE 2 : 



1) First, you will read silently to understand the procedure texts below. Make sure that you know the meaning of every word. If you find some words that you do not understand their meaning yet. Then, consult the dictionary. (Baca dalam hati untuk memahami makna dari teks prosedur berikut).

2) Second, read each text (text 1 and 2) loudly as if you are giving the instructions and take a note on your book. If possible, record your voice. (Baca dengan nyaring seolah- olah Kalian sedang memberikan instruksi dan jika memungkinkan rekamlah suara kalian).

Apakah Kalian sudah paham dengan kedua teks prosedur di atas? Great. Jika Kalian membacanya dengan serius kalian akan mudah untuk memahaminya. Sekarang, Kalian akan mempelajari tiga unsur pembentuk teks prosedur yaitu fungsi sosial, struktur teks dan unsur kebahasaan yang akan dijelaskan sebagai berikut:

1. Fungsi Sosial
Kalian tentu sudah paham isi teks prosedur terkait manual dan kiat-kiat (tips) tadi bukan? Good job. Teks prosedur memiliki beberapa fungsi sosial diantaranya untuk memberi informasi/petunjuk cara untuk mencapai hasil terbaik secara efisien, menghindari kecelakaan, kerusakan, pemborosan, dsb.
Nah, sekarang mari analisa fungsi sosial teks prosedur dengan menjawab pertanyaan berikut.



PRACTICE 3 : Read those text (Text 1 and 2) one more time then answer these question.



a. What are those texts about?
Text 1, explain abaout how to insert a sim card into a cellphone and Text 2, explain abaout how to cook using a rice cooker through the steps that mus be followed.

b. Who will probably need to read read the texts
Everyone who has cellphone and everyone who will cook rice in rice cooker will need  to read  this text.

C. What are the purpose of the texts?
The purpose of each text is to tell how something is done or accomplished through the sequence of steps.


d. What is the benefit of reading the texts?
The reader will know how to insert simcard cellphone and how to cook using rice cooker.


PRACTICE 4 : Read the text 1 then analyze its structure using this table.



PRACTICE 5 :Read text again then analyze its structure using this table

 Answer :
 - Present Tense  [Imperatives], example "Mix the dough until mixed well"
 - Action Verb , examples "mix, push, insert etc"
 - Number to Show the Sequence, examples "First, then, secondly, next etc"
 - Adverb, examples "Slowly, usually, warmly etc"


PRACTICE 6 : 


Answer : 
a) Topic : The topic is tell abaout how to use glue gun.
b) Target Reader : The target is someone who want to use a glue gun.
c) Purpose : To give information to the reader about how to use a glue gun.
d) Benefit : The reader can understand to use a glue gun.


PRACTICE 7 and 8 :


Answer to Practice 7 :
1. Goal -> How To Use Glue Gun.
2. Materials/Tools needed -> Glue stick and glue gun.
3. steps -> There are 7 steps, when the text write to begin the first steps is use sentence like "firstly, secondly, next etc"

Answer to Practice 8 :
1. Imperative : "Creck and clean the glue gun".
2. Action verb : "Check, clean, put etc".
3. Connective : "First, finally".
4. Adverb : "Gently".


PRACTICE 9 :


Answer :
1. The text is tell about way to access your bank account from just about anywhere.
2. Someone who need the tutorial, someone who want something in fast work, and someone who is in a hurry.
3. To give information to reader who need this text.
4. We will understand about how to access our bank account just about anywhere.
5. Tell abaout how to insert our drbit card into the ATM.
6. Amount, dependent, and exact.

PRACTICE 10 :


Answer : 
1. Social Function : Text 1, to inform the way how to use a blender. Text 2, to inform how to pass an Interview.
2. Text Structure : Text 1, tell the material/goals and step to use a blender. Text 2, tell about steps and the prepare when you want pass an interview.
3. Grammatical Features : Text 1, tell the Present tense, Action Verb, and Adverb. Examples "Wait until we get the right texture", "Cut the ingredients into smaller  pieces", and "Tightly". Text 2,  tell the Present tense, Action Verb, and Adverb. Examples "
